Deckhand Hawaiiana Specialist- Fair Wind Cruises
We are seeking a Deckhand to join our crew and assist in delivering an exceptional, safe and knowledgeable experience for guests, while serving as a Hawaii cultural liaison onboard. This is a unique position that combines traditional deckhand responsibilities with a role in promoting cultural understanding, responsible tourism, and customer engagement.
The purpose of the Hawaiiana Culturalist Specialist is to share the precious legacy of knowledge handed down from the generations to the staff and guests aboard the vessels. The teachings, and insights are for the purpose of educating, enlightening, to increase the understanding of the traditions of the Native Hawaiian people and to perpetuate and preserve their unique culture.
This unique position is an opportunity to share proper Hawaiian protocol and customs, fascinating stories of the homeland and its ancestors, maintain a presence of Hawaiian culture aboard the boat, and encourage a cohesive relationship with the community.
As a deckhand you will need to have strong swimming skills, have the ability to free-dive to 15 feet to secure the mooring, be able to act as a lifeguard (have a current certification or obtain one within your first year) and have a comfort level working long days on a vessel on the open ocean.You will be required to pass pre-employment & ongoing random drug testing per USCG Regulations.
